Privacy policy of "Civique : Examen & Quiz"
1. In brief
- The publisher collects no personal data about you through the app: there is no account, no advertising, no audience measurement and no tracking.
- The app works offline. What you do in the app (answers, results, calendar, flashcards, points, badges, settings) stays stored on your device.
- The network is used only for purchases and subscriptions (handled by Apple or Google) and, if you turn this feature on, to check whether there are new official texts: in that case the host of the publisher's website sees your device's IP address.
- Notifications are local, optional, and requested when you turn on the feature concerned.
2. Who publishes the app, and how to reach us
Publisher: Isquare
Contact (questions about this policy, requests about your data): contact@isquare.digital
"Civique : Examen & Quiz" is an independent practice tool. It is not published by the French State, by the Ministry of the Interior, by the OFII or by any body that runs the civics exam. It does not guarantee that you will pass the exam: points, badges and calendars are aids to regular practice, not a promise of results. For the rules in force, consult the official sites.
3. What is stored on your device
The app stores on your device, in the space reserved for the app:
- the track you choose;
- your answers, mock exam results, mock exam history and review dates;
- the questions you mark, and the series or exam in progress if you left it;
- your flashcards (each card's box and next review date) and the list of cards to review;
- your study calendar: exam date, minutes per day, active days, chosen content, ticked tasks;
- your experience points, level, day streak and badges;
- your Pomodoro sessions and settings;
- the state of the mind map (topics seen or mastered);
- the list of official texts received, the texts you have seen or read, and a technical marker of the last check (date, sequence number and HTTP tag of the file);
- your settings (for example appearance, series size, extra time, read aloud, notifications);
- the fact that the free mock exam has already been used;
- the state of your subscription, pass or lifetime purchase (Free, Premium or Ultimate plan), including the end date of a pass.
This information is used only to make the app work. The publisher has no access to it. The app does not ask for permission to access your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. See also section 6 on permissions.
4. What can leave your device
The app sends the publisher no data about you. It contains no advertising library, no audience-measurement tool and no crash-tracking tool. These are the only outside processing operations the publisher is aware of.
- Purchases, subscriptions and restoring. Paid plans (Premium; Ultimate when it is offered) are bought as a renewable monthly subscription, as a renewable 3-month subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. They are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on your device. Their terms and privacy policies apply. There is no account with the publisher: the publisher receives neither your payment details nor your identity; it only sees aggregated totals in the stores' tools. A subscription is cancelled in your Apple or Google account. On Android, the app uses the Google Play Billing library, supplied by Google; the data it handles is handled under Google's rules. The publisher has no access to it.
- Check for new official texts (optional). The app contains a list of official texts (laws, decrees, orders, the citizen's booklet). If you turn on the "new text" alert or tap "Vérifier maintenant" (check now), the app downloads, over HTTPS, a small public file (a list of references) hosted on the publisher's website. With the alert on, this check repeats about every 12 hours, when the system allows it. The app sends no identifier, no cookie and no data about you or your progress in this request. However, as with any Internet request, the host of this website (under its own rules) sees your device's IP address, the date and time, and the ordinary technical information of the request, and may keep them in its logs. The publisher uses no analytics tool of the host and does not try to identify you. As long as neither the alert nor the manual check is used, the app does not make this request. Offline, the list already saved stays displayed.
- Opening an official page. When you open an official text or the citizen's booklet, the app opens the page of the official source (for example Légifrance, or the Ministry of the Interior's website) in your device's browser or in an in-app browsing window. That third-party site then sees your IP address and applies its own privacy policy. The publisher receives nothing from it. The app keeps no copy of these texts. Only the Journal officiel is authoritative.
- Read aloud. This feature is optional and off by default. It uses your device's speech-synthesis engine. Depending on the device and the chosen voice, this engine works offline or online under its own rules, which the app does not control.
- Store diagnostic reports. If you have turned on diagnostics sharing with Apple or Google, these companies may receive crash reports under their own rules. The publisher is not a recipient through the app.
5. Notifications
The app's notifications are local: they are scheduled and displayed by your device, with no notification server of the publisher, and without the publisher knowing whether you receive them. They signal the end of a Pomodoro session, a daily review reminder that you chose and, if you turn it on, the arrival of a new official text in the list. The app asks for permission when you turn on the feature concerned, never at launch; a refusal blocks nothing else. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings. A notification's text does not contain your progress.
6. Permissions requested by the app
- Network access (Internet): for purchases and for the optional check for new official texts (section 4). On Android, the app declares the Internet permission; it does not declare network state.
- Notifications: for the local notifications in section 5, requested in context (Android 13 and later; iPhone and iPad).
- Billing (Android): for purchases through Google Play. On iPhone and iPad, purchases use StoreKit, with no separate permission.
- Background tasks: the periodic check for texts, if you turned it on, and the Pomodoro timer use the system's mechanisms (on Android, technical permissions for start-up, keeping awake and foreground service accompany these features; on iPhone and iPad, background refresh). They send nothing other than what is described in section 4.
- The app does not ask for location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
The exact list of permissions is the one shown on the app's page in your store.
7. Device backups
The app's data is excluded from system backups (iCloud or computer backup on iPhone and iPad; Google backup on Android). On Android, it is also excluded from transfer to a new device. When you change device, your progress is therefore not carried over automatically. Your subscription, pass or lifetime purchase is tied to your Apple or Google account: it is found again with "Restaurer mes achats" (Restore purchases).
8. Erasing your data
In Settings, the "Effacer ma progression" (erase my progress) command deletes from this device your answers, mock exam history, review dates, marked questions, the series or exam in progress, your flashcards, calendar, points, badges, Pomodoro sessions and mind map state. It keeps your settings, your plan status and the fact that the free mock exam has been used. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data. None of this cancels a subscription or deletes a purchase, which remain tied to your Apple or Google account: to stop a subscription, use your account settings.
9. If you write to us
The app sends no e-mail by itself. If you write to the contact address given in section 2, the publisher receives your e-mail address and the content of your message. It uses them only to answer you and, where relevant, to fix the app; it does not share them. It keeps them as long as needed to handle your request, then deletes them. You can ask for their deletion at any time.
10. Your rights
For the data the publisher may hold (your e-mails), you can ask for access, rectification or erasure of these data, and exercise your right to object or to restrict processing, by writing to the contact address in section 2. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr). The data stored on your device remain under your control: you can erase them yourself (section 8). See also the GDPR and your rights page.
11. Intended audience
The app is intended for adults. It is not intended for children.
12. Online version of this policy
The online version of this policy contains no script, tracker or external resource. The host of this web page may record technical connection data (for example visitors' IP addresses) under its own rules. In the app, this text is displayed without network access.
13. Changes
If the app changes so that it sends data other than those described here (for example an audience-measurement or crash-reporting tool), this policy will be updated before the release concerned is published. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this policy. Previous versions remain available on request.
